- How does one get an extra Recycling bin?
To obtain an extra Recycling bin, follow the instructions at

- What materials can we Recycle?

- How does one get an extra Trash bin?
Residents are encouraged to reduce the amount of waste generated and
recycle all items accepted in the city’s recycling collection program
(visit Materials Accepted in ALL Recycling Programs)
If all waste still does not fit in the 96 gallon sized cart, an additional
cart may be purchased for a one time fee of $40.00. To purchase an extra
Trash bin, follow the instructions at

- What is the turnaround time for getting a new Recycle
bin our a Trash bin?
Normally within 10 days.
- What do I do with hazardous material?
To determine if an item is a hazardous material and what to do with it, visit the
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) page which
that includes Landfill operating hours and defines hazardous properties.
- Does the city of Raleigh pick up old appliances like
refrigerators, water heaters, stoves, washers, dryers, and more?
These appliances are commonly called "White goods" and can be collected by the Street
Maintenance Special Load Program for a fee of $40. The payment for this residential
service must be made in advance. Visit
