Call Before You Dig - It's the Law
Call the North Carolina One-Call Center at 1-800-632-4949 before you do any digging.Before you do any digging in your yard, you must call the North Carolina One-Call Center at 1-800-632-4949. If you fail to call the North Carolina One-Call Center before you dig, you are responsible for any necessary repair costs! The North Carolina One-Call Center will notify the utility members in your area. If these companies have any underground utilities in you neighborhood, they will send a crew to mark the location of the utilities with nonpermanent paint. The companies have 48 working hours to mark these utilities.
The marked lines are good for 10 working days and if your work is not complete in this time, you must call the North Carolina One-Call Center again and have the utilities marked a second time. Orange paint is used to indicate a cable or phone line. You may dig no closer that 2 1/2 feet on either side of any painted lines.
