Meeting Agenda - June 20, 2005

7:00 - 8:15 Meeting
  1. Welcome
Sign-In Sheet & Door Prize Slips
    14 Members in Attendance
  2. Beat Officer/Crime Prevention Officer
    • Welcome Back Officer Upchurch - Lots of Applause
    • May/June Police Report - We did not have the 911 reports prepared for our area, however, we will have it posted on the website within the next 2 weeks. Overall, crime is low in our area over the last month. There was a burglary on Joanne Drive and the suspect left identifiable fingerprints on a liquor bottle. There have been a string of car break-ins at Sterling Homes on 6/13/05. LOCK your cars and DO NOT leave valuables in plain site.

There were questions about summertime and kids being out of school, Officer Upchurch noted that if kids are loitering, you can call 911 to request an officer come out to check on them and say hello. This lets the youth know that we recognize they are there and that folks are watching.
  3. Events Recap:
    • Shredding Event- Held in April over 2 weekends was a great success and numerous folks have asked when we will sponsor another event.
    • Car Wash - Canceled due to lack of participation.
    • Street Sweep - 20-25 people pitched in to clean up the neighborhood. We collected 13 bags of trash, and 2 full recycle containers. Cook-out with composting class was a hit!
    • Pampered Chef Fundraiser - Collected almost $50 but could have used more participation. You missed some great food.
    • Yard Sale - 2 weekends of yard sales and now time to kick back and enjoy the summer.
  4. Upcoming Events:
    • National Night Out, August 2, 2005 - We plan on having the watermelon social like we did last year and have considered games for kids and games/stories for adults. We are investigating having a "campfire" and hosting the "History of Rhamkatte."
  5. Financial
    • Account Balance - $173.80
    • Monies Owed- $0.00 owed to people, $77.00 owed in Mailbox signs (inventory)
    • Tax Exempt Status - Jason Hibbets will investigate
    • Donations: Shredding Event ($32), Pampered Chef ($47.40 from PC, $48 Match from Jeannie Inskeep), Yard Sale ($25 in donations). Also note that we received a $20 donation from C.L. & Nancy O'Neal who live on Ramsgate Street. Thank you all your you contributions!
  6. Available Signs: 4 Pleasant Ridge, 2 Ramsgate, 1 Community Watch, contact Jason Hibbets to get your sign today.
  7. New Business (Open Floor)
    • More Officers - Possibly looking to extend the current 3-Chair system to include a Secretary and Head Committee Person.
    • Group Structure Changes - Looking at getting the block captains more involved so that we can channel information from neighbors to block captains up to the chairs and vice versa. This will also help in handing out welcome kits. Look for block # assignments to come over the summer.
    • New Concerns:
      • Speeding on Sierra - Ann Butman and Laura Collins to form a committee to investigate this further.
      • Parking in yards/on grass. There is currently a city ordinance in the works, we will link this to the website.
      • Welcome Kits handed out, please notify Jason Hibbets if you need a welcome kit and also which houses have been delivered welcome kits. (Keep an eye out for new neighbors.)
      • Questions about new sign ordinance, a brief explanation was given of how the chairs understand it, but we will investigate further.
  8. Lineberry Alliance Update - Jason Hibbets provided an update and explained what the group is doing. There was meeting held on 6/16 that reviewed the PROP and geared up for that groups organization. We anticipate Lineberry Drive to be paved sometime this summer. In addition to that, the street and sidewalk petition was signed by the fourth supporter today, reaching 4/7 supporters with 414.08' out of 743.97' linear feet. This is enough to submit the petition to city council.
  9. Door Prize
  10. Adjourn - Next Meeting September 20, 2005 at 7:00 PM
