Meeting Notes - May 7, 2007 (Quarterly Meeting)
7:00 - 8:15 Meeting
Location: First United Pentecostal Church, Lake Wheeler Road
- Welcome - The meeting was called to order at 7:11 p.m.< br>Sign-In Sheet - Tabitha welcomed all our "first time" neighbors to the meeting.
- Financial
- Treasurer's Report - Treasury report: $286.00 is in our own Pleasant Ridge-Ramsgate Community Watch checking acct. Donations are still being accepted - make checks payable to Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate Community Watch
- Spring Campaign Update - raised $135.00, THANK YOU!
- Crime Prevention
- Raleigh Police Department - Beat officer did not attend.
- 911 Calls - March had 39 calls (loud noise, vehicle break-ins, accidents, 911 hang- ups); April had 56 calls (animals, talk with officers, attempted break-ins); May had 19 calls (vehicle accidents, break-ins, 911 hang-ups, non-resident calls, security check, nursing home calls, Lenox Chase calls).
- 911 calls will be on the website
- Additional community watch signs have been researched for certain streets
- Tree growing over the community watch sign on Sierra.
- Tom brought a "Kidz 'n' Power" Abduction Awareness Pack for as an idea to give to new neighbors with kids or to be included in the Welcome to the Neighborhood Pack.
- Events/Meeting/Updates
- Establish Welcome Committee - Still need a coordinator and volunteers for the Welcoming Committee
- Captains for Defined "Blocks"
- Event Coordinators needed
- Community Yard Sale - June 19 & June 26 - Event Coordinator needed for the Yard sale
- Dates maybe changed to June 23 & 26 or June 16 & 23
- Coordinator will put ad in paper, ask for donations from others, survey the neighborhood to see who is participating
- National Night Out - August 7 - Event Coordinator needed for National Night Out on August 7.
- Upcoming Events
- Street Sweep 2007 - May 19 - Laura Collins is the coordinator for Street Sweep 2007 which will be held on May 19 instead of May 12. Start time 8:00 a.m. - until (usually takes about 2/3 hours). Meet at 2221 Sierra Drive for Street Sweep. Later, the Cook out is at 2213 Sierra Drive at 5:00 - Hamburgers will be provided; see website to sign up to bring other items (donations accepted if you are unable to make it)
- Recap Events
- Joined NBC17/Shred It as volunteers on March 31, 2007 Shredding Event - Tabitha, Jason and Shelia participated in the NBC17 Shred It event
- Nancy Warren did a "Wake Up" call
- Tabitha has a CD courtesy of NBC17; stay tuned for pictures to be on the website
- Next Shred it event will be in September 2007; place: TBA.

- Concerns/Questions
- Promoting our Community through Real Estate - A brochure (draft) was created for real estate agent to present to possible homeowners
- Jay Joiner, technical writer, created a draft brochure about our neighborhood.
- Still taking suggestions, information, pictures for brochure ideas
- Information will be available on website
- Party/Animal Problems on Joanne - Party problems in the cul-se-sac at the corner of Joanne and Lineberry
- parking problem also in the same area
- suggestion to draft a letter to homeowner stating with city ordinances regarding nuisance, etc. first.
- problem with a dog barking all day long.
- Dix 306 - See www.Dix306.org for information on Dix 306
- basically it's a group of people who want to turn the 306 acres into a "Raleigh Central Park"
- may include shutting down the Farmers Market
- the same group is responsible for having the Hatteras Lighthouse moved
- T.I.F. (Tax Increment Financing) maybe used for Dix property
- Thank you to FUPC - Tabitha will do a "Thank you" note to First United Pentecostal Church for the use of their facility
- Lake Wheeler will be 5 lanes (according to the road bond passed last year)
- There will be a sidewalk/greenway from the nursing home/Lenox Chase apts to Food Lion shopping center
- Sidewalk on Sierra should be done by the end of June
- Small neighborhood park at Sierra and Lineberry is still under discussion; possible money coming from grant.
