Meeting Notes - February 13, 2007 (Annual Meeting)
7:00 - 8:15 Meeting- Welcome - The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m.

Tabitha welcomed all our "first time" neighbors to the meeting. - Financial
- Treasurer's Report - Treasury report: $178.00 is in our checking acct. Although expenses are minimum, there are some. An additional purpose is to print signs stating the community meetings, sending newsletters, etc.
- Crime Prevention
- Raleigh Police Department
- Officer Frank Patercity was our beat officer from District 26/2602. Officer Upchurch was unable to attend.
- There has been 1 juvenile arrest involving a vehicle break-in. They are trying to find similarities with other break-ins and random acts of violence stressed the "Take, Lock, Hide" procedure/idea.
- Speed: he constantly sits near or on Sierra looking for speeders, the CAC is working on lowering the speed , no speed bumps will be installed due to emergency vehicle
- "Blind Person Area" sign on Henslowe. - 911 Calls - 911 calls chart: Please view at your convenience; it covers the 2005 and 2006 calls the number of calls fluctuated between 30-40 calls per month more animal calls, suspicious person/vehicle. 1 Stolen Identity. Please remember to call 911 if you think your identify has been stolen. "Take, Lock, Hide" everything or keep it in your trunk.

- Establish Welcome Committee - We are still trying to establish a Welcoming Committee
- Captains for Defined "Blocks" - Block captains -would like 1 person per block for each street; on larger streets there will be 2 State of the Neighborhood: Tabitha did not like certain things, but liked others; It's a work in progress and the goal is for it to be a tool that can work to our benefit. It should be used to say "look what's going on in your neighborhood"; City inspector came by/through our neighborhood to give out fines. It was noted that for some of these places, it was not the first time they had been visited by the Inspector. It was also noted that the inspector is in our area several times a month.
Please make sure you put VISIBLE numbers either on you house and /or on your mailbox. A suggestion made to set a day aside for a large objects garbage collection Another suggestion was made to teach people or help them with problems on their property (i.e., falling down mailbox) instead of calling inspections. - Event Coordinators

- Join NBC17/Shred It as volunteers for March 31, 2007 Shredding Event - We are working with NBC-17's Shredding event to prevent identity theft the details are unknown at this time - watch the website and email for details if you would like to volunteer, please see info on the website.
- SWCAC - SouthWest Citizens Adviosry Council (Meets on the 2nd Monday of every month).
- CAC (Citizen Advisory Council) Met Monday, February 12. The list of activities were read that are being offered at Carolina Pines. Dix 306: a representative was there to explain it more - very interesting PROP will meet on the 2nd Monday at 8:00 for 2 ½ hours a month. Representative regarding the dog park was there. Gave details. Explained that there is going to be a dog park put somewhere. Would like it to be in this part of Raleigh. Also noted that Carolina Pines Park would welcome the dog park if for no other reason than to keep dogs out of the baseball fields. The next "Dog park" meeting is on Feb. 28, 2007 at Carolina Pines at 7:00 p.m.
Jason attended the City Council meeting regarding the neighborhood park, carwash and dog park (we need volunteers to maintain it and Carolina Pines wants a dog park also) Send an alert if you have any crime to report.

- Concerns/Questions - 1) Construction on Lake Wheeler Rd and Tryon will consist of curves, gutters and sidewalks; no will lose their home; 2) Stoplights on/at Henslowe-no plans to widen it pass Tryon; 3) Contributions are still being take for our organization
- Adjourn - NEXT MEETING IS ON MONDAY, MAY 7; LOCATION IS TBA - (the church maybe moving or will be renovating)
