Meeting Agenda - December 13, 2005

7:00 - 7:45 Meeting
  1. Welcome
    Sign-In Sheet
    10 Members in Attendance
  2. Beat Officer/Crime Prevention Officer - Officer Upchurch was sick this evening and could not attend. The November crime stats have not been compiled yet, but will be available on the website soon. Past stats have been compiled are will be on the website by the end of the week.

The holidays are a high crime time (Hand out for holiday safety tips made available).

Holiday Safety Tip: If you get some big ticket items for the holidays (TV, VCR, DVD, microwave, etc.) don't put your boxes out to the curb. This is an advertisement of what is in your house. The best thing you can do is take the boxes to be recycled. Wake County has a multi-use Transfer Station just up Lake Wheeler on Yates Mill Pond Road.
  3. Updates
    • Walt Fuller (911 Presentation Follow-up) - If anyone is interested in a tour of the 911 facility (Municipal Building 222 W. Hargett St.), contact Tabitha Groelle. We would like to schedule a field trip in the Spring for the group.
    • Neighborhood College - Two more folks from the SWCAC area graduated from Raleigh's Neighborhood College. Jason Hibbets was the first member from our area to graduate. Please contact Jason for additional details.
    • CAC Meeting
    • Friends of Lake Johnson - Mailings sent out to some folks, Tabitha Groelle has more information on how you can help.
    • Sierra Drive Sidewalk petition - Jason Hibbets provided an update on the petition. Thanks to Michelle Greenwood and Bryan Butler for helping out and reaching out to the 10 property owners affected by the petition to complete the North sidewalk along Sierra Drive (which will complete the passage from Lake Wheeler to Lineberry Drive).
    • Front Yard Parking - Someone asked about parking in front yards. As a Neighborhood group, we recognize that this is unattractive but there is currently no city code to enforce this. It is currently in a City Council sub-committee.
  4. New Business (Open Floor)
    • Concerns/Questions - Jason Hibbets prop0sed that the group move it's meeting months from March, June, September, December to February, May, August, and November (first Monday or Tuesday of the month). Michelle Listim seconded the motion. No one opposed.
  5. Adjourn - Next Meeting February 2006
  6. Cookie Exchange Social
