Meeting Notes - November 6, 2006 (Cookie Exchange)

  1. Welcome
    Sign-In Sheet
    The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
  2. New Organization
    Introduction of Officers - We are now an Incorporated organization with by-laws; New officers are President-Tabitha Groelle; Vice President-Jason Hibbets; Treasurer-Merri Beth Hibbets; Secretary-Shelia Campbell. Website is available-contact officers at chairs at prr-watch.org. There were 3 chair officers, now it's 4; Tabitha recognized Jeannie Inskeep for all her contributions and support; a token of appreciation to Jeannie will be given at a later date.
  3. Financial
    • Treasurer's Report - There is $178 in the account; $65.76 in signed inventory;
    • Sponsorships Available - space is available on the website for sponsorships - $20 for 3 months for inner residents; $50 for 3 months for outside residents.
  4. Crime Prevention
    • Raleigh Police Department
      • Officer Barbie Upchurch read the 911 calls report; 124 calls were reported since the last meeting; stressed importance on warming up your car and leaving it unattended, reporting identity theft, being careful with credit cards during the holidays, telemarketers, not letting your guard down during the holidays, parking your car during the holidays, making your house look lived in, new schemes: mail fraud, checks in mail and repackaging.
        FYI - there are 420 houses in our community
      • Officer Draughon spoke on a program called CLAMP DOWN (Controlling Loud Amplified Music Problems Disturbing Our Western Neighbors); found under the Raleigh Nuisance Order; specific guidelines are followed before citations are written; fines range from $110 to $135; if you call to report loud noise(s), please leave your name and phone number (information will not be given out), can call 911 or non-emergency number 831-6311.
    • 911 Calls - we reviewed the 911 calls (available on the website soon)
    • Speed Check - FYI - Sierra has the "speed sign"
  5. Upcoming Events
    • Vote - November 7 - Please vote!
    • Holiday Lights - Pictures of houses with Christmas/Holiday decorations on the website; date and time TBA.
  6. 2007 Goals/Planned Events
    • Establish Welcome Committee - Need a volunteer to head the Welcome Committee.
    • Captains for Defined "Blocks" - responsibilities are defined in the by-laws.
    • Event Coordinators - Need a volunteer(s) to be the Event Coordinator(s).

      • Join NBC17/Shred It as volunteers for March 31, 2007 Shredding Event
  7. Hot Topic Holiday Safety
    • Holiday Safety Flyer - Holiday safety flyers were available
      - leaving delivered packages on porch during the holidays
      - boxes of new TV, computers should not be left on curb (to advertise your new toys)
    • Smoke alarms/batteries , check batteries in smoke alarms.
