Pleasant Ridge and Ramsgate Community Watch - Graffiti
"What do you do about gang graffiti?
Read It! Record It! Report It! And Remove It!!
Gang graffiti left unchecked can be dangerous. Remember it can communicate
an outright threat against an opposing gang or person. First the graffiti must be
read and interpreted for danger signals. Second, it should be photographed. Then,
a police report should be made for tracking purposes. Finally, the graffiti should
be removed to reduce the likelihood of continued violence."

Graffiti in our Neighborhood
June 22, 2004:
At nine this morning Raleigh City Maintenance confirmed that they power-washed off both
the new and the old spray paintings at the Ramsgate & Lineberry corner. Good work! RPD has
written this up as gang-related vandalism, not to mention that they stole the paint from the
construction site so this adds theft to the list of crimes.
This isn't the end of it, of course. We neighbors should look out for further signs of gang activity, including additional vandalisms by spray paint.

The gang symbols already there -- faded by time or washing -- were X'd and new
symbols including the letters U, N, and B (individually-circled) plus the
number 031 were painted on.
The number 031 is listed as a gang symbol. Its meaning, "I am Blood." "Graffiti upside down or crossed out is generally a 'put down' or threat to a rival gang or person." |

Gang graffiti in our watch area near Lineberry Drive & Joanne Drive. If you want to learn more about the gang that put this mark there do a web search for "sureno" or "sur 13," which is a gang originating from California. |
Perhaps just a simple sign tagging? |
Dasean - This is perhaps just a person's tag, but could be gang related. This can be found on the sidewalk along Lineberry Drive near Sterling Park. |
