First Mayor's Unity Breakfast
Date: Saturday, December 9th 2006
Time : 8:30 AM
Location: North Carolina State University's Jane S. McKimmon Center, 1101 Gorman St.

Mayor Charles Meeker will host the first Mayor's Unity Breakfast on Dec. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at North Carolina State University's Jane S. McKimmon Center, 1101 Gorman St.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate human diversity in the Capital City. Raleigh residents are invited to join Mayor Meeker in an open dialogue to learn and share ideas on how to enhance understanding of diverse cultures, build inclusiveness, and strengthen human relations in Raleigh. Anyone who has an interest in strengthening human relations -- including community, religions/faith, education and business leaders -- is encouraged to attend to attend the unity breakfast to promote dialogue among all citizens; share insights, experiences and lessons learned; create relationships that will be sustained over time; and build a city that is open and inviting to all people, regardless of race, creed, or religious or ethnic background.

The unity breakfast, which organizers plan to make an annual event, will include welcoming remarks from Mayor Meeker, a buffet-style breakfast, a panel discussion followed by a question-and-answer session, and breakout sessions and presentations.

To register to attend the Mayor's Unity Breakfast, contact Christine Alston or Melinda Lindsay at the City of Raleigh Community Services Department, 831-6100, or email them at Christine.Alston@ci.raleigh.nc.us or Melinda.Lindsay@ci.raleigh.nc.us.
