- How can I help promote this event?
You can download our flyer and post it at work, in your neighborhood, or where ever people will find our about this event.
- How do I know that my stuff is really being shredded?
Your material is shredded as you empty it onto the truck.
- How much is this going to cost me?
Nothing. The event is absolutely free!
- Whose idea was this?
This event was planned and is sponsored by the Pleasant Ridge & Ramsgate Community Watch and On-Site Shred to raise awareness of Identity Theft.
- Why can't I just throw this stuff in the trash?
Identity Theft is a rising crime in America. Often times by going through your garbage, criminals are able to ascertain information about you and your family. They take that information and become you, by applying for credit cards, buying merchandise on credit, making fake ID's, etc.
- What can I shred?
Anything paper including bound materials and window envelopes (you do not have to remove clips or staples).
- What kind of stuff would I want to shred?
Bills, bank statements, pre-approved credit card applications, anything that has your personal information on it.
- When can I shred my stuff?
You will have two chances. Saturday, April 2 and Saturday, April 9 between 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Do I have to register?
No. The shredding schedule is first come, first serve.
- Do I have to be a part of the Community Watch to shred?
No. This event is open to all Raleigh and surrounding area residents.
- Is there a limit to how much I can shred?
Yes. We ask that you limit your shredding to 100 pounds per person.
- We have some stuff at work that needs to be shredded. Can I bring that?
No. This event is limited to household shredding. On-Site Shred specializes in commercial shredding. You can call them at 919-235-0660 about your office needs.
- Has this ever been done before?
Yes. On-Site Shred participated in a similar event in Winston-Salem. You can see more about this event on their web site at www.onsiteshred.com.
- What is done with the shredded material?
All material is 100% recycled.
