Addressing Neighborhood Problems using
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
Date: Session One: Wednesday March 15, 2006
Time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location: Lions Park Center
or
Date: Session Two: Thursday March 16, 2006
Time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location: Biltmore Hills Center
Why should you attend? Consider the following questions:
- Do you think vacant lots and abandoned buildings contribute to crime in your neighborhood?
- Are you afraid to report criminal or suspicious activity in your neighborhood due to fear of retaliation?
- Do you feel that absentee landlords are not effectively managing rental property in your neighborhood, causing lots of problems?
- Do you see people hanging around convenience stores in your neighborhood?
- Do you think city departments like the Police, Parks & Recreation, Inspections, or Planning could do more about crime in your neighborhood?
If you responded yes to one or more questions, then you should attend a CPTED workshop!
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) encourages the community to be more proactive in the fight against crime at the neighborhood level. CPTED training unites city departments (e.g., planning, police, inspections, solid waste, and/or community development) and community members in solving problems related to crime and the physical environment.
Attend a workshop and learn how to define problems, identify solutions, carry out plans, and evaluate results.
